Family Night

Tonight is Family Night in the U.S. This is designed for people to stay at home or do something with their family. I know it’s a crazy idea. Aren’t we supposed to cart kids around from activity to activity and feed them fast food in the backseat?

Anyway, research shows that in families that eat together 5 nights a week or more kids are significantly less likely to smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Yes, folks, it’s not magic. It’s dinner!

Why do we have to specify one night a year for this? Whatever happened to the Leave It To Beaver days when everyone actually sat down to dinner wearing a suit and tie?

Our family must be really boring. We don’t go anywhere. We sit at home and eat. And eat. And eat…
