Simon Says, “Happy Easter!”

I’m not sure what your church did for Easter service, but the Granger Community Church played a life-sized game of Simon. The Pastor, Mark Beeson, used the game as a sermon illustration. I gotta tell you, that is a long way to go for a sermon illustration.

I am a member of GCC and let me tell you that this was one of the most creative teams I have ever seen. The “simon” game was the beginning of a demonstration on “viral” information. The next step was the wave, demonstrating linear information. You were only allowed to lift your glow stick when the person next to you lifted theirs. The lights spread slowly through the auditorium. Then we demonstrated viral information. You were to lift your light as soon as someone near you lifted theirs. The lights shot up until the entire auditorium was lit (about 2 seconds). The point was that if you only tell the person next to you about God’s word the information spreads slowly but if you tell EVERYONE God’s word will spread like wildfire, and isnt that a beautiful thing.
